New Place

We closed on our new place in Raliegh on May 30th. The address is:
1801 Bellwood Drive
Raleigh, NC 27605

The good news was we only moved about 6 blocks but the bad news was we got the keys to our new place around 10 am Friday morning and needed to be out of our new place by noon on Saturday. We had the place prepared for the move and hired movers from a place called TROSA in durham. TROSA is an outfit that does moving, framing and a couple other things and they use fellas that have entered themselves into a rehab program. I'm not sure if christine picked them out because she is a social worker or if we thought we were getting a deal, but they showed up at 10 am friday with the truck. They were disappointed to see the distance from the curb to our place. Anyway, they did a decent job but I got the impression from the movies that recovering crack addicts were real fidgety and anxious, but these fellas were just about as lazy as the general population. And they were all a bit skinny and fragile - as i would expect for a fella in recovery. They were complaining about how heavy our stuff was. Christine asked them if they had any larger, stronger colleagues. They told us that the big dudes went to big houses - as if there is a corelation between the size of the house and the weight/size of the stuff in the joint. They took a long time to move our stuff and you could buy a lot of crack with the amount of money we gave them.

Then we painted over the weekend. The whole place was sterile white when we moved in. We painted the front room khaki and the connected dining room a sort of clay red. Niether of us have painted before so it went slowly. We dripped paint all over the floor. And we inadvertently painted some spots on the ceiling. So we tried to dig up the original paint used on the ceiling and it took almost the whole week to get it presentable. Next time I'm going to see if the crack-people can come paint for us. If nothing else they have steady hands.

Here are some pictures of the new place:
